When I was considering taking up fly fishing one of the intimidating factors was some of the knots synonymous with the sport. Having never been much of a knot person it was worrisome to think this important facet might be my undoing.
Fortunately I jumped in and thanks to YouTube and my friend Dan (formerly of LL Bean & now the Manager at the Orvis store) the knots required to get started in the sport were mastered.
Now, as a more seasoned fisher I find myself seeking out new knots to learn if they appear applicable. In this post I'm sharing a YouTube video on tying the FG knot, one that was unknown to me prior. I'm not 100% sure of its applicability for fly fishing but some of you who use traditional gear might. At any rate, it never hurts to learn something new.
