Volunteer Opportunity - tree planting

Our friends at Trout Unlimited are teaming up with the Allegheny Land Trust to do some tree planting along Big Sewickley Creek. Details below.

Saturday, November 23, 2024 @ 9:30AM — 12:30PM, strap on your muck boots and join PWWTU and ALT and others in planting trees along the Big Sewickley Creek! This planting will strengthen the riparian buffer that winds through Linbrook Woodlands, providing habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife, and making a stronger stream bank to prevent soil erosion.

Volunteers will work with shovels, rebar poles, and pruners to plant trees and install live stakes in and along the creek. Some light lifting may be involved, but we can accommodate to make sure everyone has something to contribute. Tools and gloves will be provided. Participants should dress appropriately for walking in cold, wet, and muddy conditions.

Registration is required so we can communicate in case of any necessary changes:

Event will take place rain or shine, but we will cancel in case of thunderstorms or floods. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a reusable water bottle. There are no restrooms on site.

We could not accomplish the wonderful things we do to help our watershed be healthy without the generous support of the community—We hope to see you there! And please, feel free to share with friends, neighbors, and family!

Thanks all!
